After a six-month delay, we’re excited to announce we will be a part of Data Days CLE this month, thanks to technology! Originally scheduled for April, this local data-centered conference now will run virtually through Zoom sessions beginning Wednesday, Oct. 21. You can catch our session, “Building a Data Culture: Replicable Data Trainings and Tools,” on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 10:30 a.m. Register at https://cwru.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_S_dCMtQGS8OAQOgi1QLN0A! We are proud to partner with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank and NASA Glenn Research Center for this conversation on driving a data-informed company culture and empowering non-data practitioners to make data-driven decisions. We and our fellow hosts will highlight experiences identifying and overcoming barriers around the implementation of data practices, data literacy, and data management methods, achieving symbiotic dependency between data sets and tools, and the development of deliverable reporting products. Data Days CLE is an annual conference in the greater Cleveland area for promoting accessible, open data use for community impact. Find out more at datadayscle.org! The Institute of Family & Community Impact is a initiative of OhioGuidestone, one of Ohio’s largest behavioral health agencies. From research to products to clinical innovations, we provide tools for mental health treatment. For questions or more info, email us at IFCI@ohioguidestone.org.
Cuyahoga County will celebrate its 15th annual Fathers Walk next week Thursday, Oct. 15. This event encourages fathers and father figures to actively participate in their children’s education by taking the “Fathers Walk Pledge.” This year, organizers are offering a virtual Fathers Walk beginning at 9 a.m. Find out more at neofathering.net, or register at us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZEkceqppzMtGtZKwwyuaD3M7X1ohLcQ-rWb. First held in 2006, the Fathers Walk is hosted by the Healthy Fathering Collaborative, Passages, and the Cuyahoga County Fatherhood Initiative. WKYC Studios sponsors the event. Fathers play an important role in child development. That’s why we’re researching connections between fathers, their feelings, and their young children. Our Father’s Feelings Study enrolls dads with babies 12 months old or younger. We’re looking at unique ways fathers raise their children and how fatherhood affects their lives. Find out more at familyandcommunityimpact.org/fathers-feelings-study. Meanwhile, our Joyful Together study encourages joy and play between parents and children through simple activities we developed through our Joyful Together model. This opportunity is for families with children 3 months old up to 10 years old. Find out more at familyandcommunityimpact.org/clinical-innovations/joyful-together. We currently are conducting all our studies remotely, using videoconferencing and our Research Portal.
Spread the word! Sign up today! You now can join our Father’s Feelings study remote. Find out how. Last week, we let you know that our Joyful Together® study had reopened virtually. Now, dads with babies can join our Father’s Feelings study remote, too! In an effort to expand our research studies during the COVID-19 pandemic, OhioGuidestone and the Institute of Family & Community Impact have restarted our studies with remote access. With online forms and videoconferencing, you can participate in our studies from the safety and comfort of your own home! The Father’s Feelings study is our latest project for dads with babies. We want to better understand the experiences of fathers during the first year of their children’s lives. To do that, we’re asking dads with children 12 months old or younger to sign up and join us! Each participating father will receive five one-on-one sessions with our research assessors through a secure virtual videoconferencing platform (no downloads required). During the study, dads will answer a few short questionnaires and talk about their feelings and experiences. Then, once they’ve completed the study, each participant will receive a $25 gift card as a thank you. Read more about the study at www.familyandcommunityimpact.org/fathers-feelings-study.
